Additionally, Cargoforwarder.eu reports:Azerbaijan is key market for fast-growing airline, Sky Gates Cargo as it expands its fleet of freighters
Baku, Azerbaijian - Speaking at the Caspian Air Cargo Summit in Baku, Sky Gates Cargo, a recent airline established in Moscow, Russia and partnered with Silk Way Airlines, sees Azerbaijan as a crucial component in its air freight operations as it continues to expand its fleet of freighters.
Nidjat Babayev, senior vice president of Sky Gates, spoke on the second and final day of the cargo summit in the Azeri capital.
The airline, only established in October 2016 and celebrating its first year anniversary, is fast-growing and has already set up operations from Russia to CIS countries and Europe. 150 current employees oversee and manage the operations.
The airline currently operates a fleet of two Boeing freighters with added additions on order. The order of the panel was to discuss if the CIS/Russia/Central Asian markets need more freighters and Sky Gates' intention to grow its fleet with freighters somewhat answered this.
Next year, the vice president stated, the airline will operate with two more freighters - two Boeing 747s.
Babayev stated the Baku-Moscow route that the freight airline operates on was also one of the first established, furthering the special partnership the two countries have.
The vice president also stated "next year, we will expand our network with ten to twelve destinations," as it fights off stiff competition in Russia from other cargo airlines.
FLEET NEWS
Russian carrier Sky Gates Cargo Airlines which has its main base in Moscow, is said to be planning to add a third B747-400F to their fleet by early 2018. Rumours are that the aircraft will also be leased in from Azerbaijan’s Silk Way Group, as are the two presently in operation.
